24 Hours in Tokyo

I had the opportunity to spend a quick 24 hours in Tokyo and jumped at the chance.

I knew 24 hours (including time to sleep) would limit what I could do, so I knew I had to prioritize. I had 3 goals:

  • Visit a cat cafe
  • Buy kawaii stuff at KiddieLand
  • See some Harajuku street fashion

Look, it’s not the most cultured itinerary but I like cute stuff, okay?!

So, how’d I do?

I arrived into Narita airport on a Sunday late afternoon. I took the Narita express train into Tokyo.

I immediately visited KiddieLand after checking in to my hotel and I was amazed. That place is incredible! I went back five times.

Judge me, I don’t care.

I visited Mocha Cat Cafe on a Monday morning around 10am and was lucky enough to be the only person there for most of my visit.

Just me and 12 beautiful cats – heavenly.

I was glad I chose to visit Mocha – the cafe was bright and spacious and I could tell the cats were content and treated well. They even have WiFi!

Since it was Monday, I mostly saw people in work clothes or school uniforms.

If you want to see outrageous fashion, explore Shibuya or Harajuku on a Sunday when the hip teenagers are out of school.

Lesson learned! I’d say 2 out of 3 goals accomplished ain’t bad.

Don’t ask me how many times I ate McDonald’s in that 24 hours, though.

Okay, fine – three times.

But I only ate McDonald’s three times because I hadn’t researched the food and I am a secret picky eater.

I have been able to return to Tokyo and experienced some amazing picky-eater-approved food while I was there – post coming soon!
