Tokyo, round two – my top 5 picky eater friendly restaurants

I’m not too ashamed to admit that I did very little research food-wise before my first trip to Tokyo [I know better now!] and ended up eating at McDonalds three times during my stay.

Tokyo has a lot to offer for all palates, even extremely picky ones! I’ve been back since, and had much better luck with my meals.

For people who get homesick for traditional American breakfast (like me!!), it’s good to book a hotel or hostel that offers some sort of American breakfast. Read the reviews!

I struggled with the breakfast at my hotel and ended up at Denny’s (not a terrible choice to be fair).

I’ll be going back to Tokyo in a few weeks, and I’ll definitely be visiting these 5 picky-eater-approved restaurants:

1. Casa de Sarasa – Mexican food in Japan? Trust me, this place is awesome. It’s tucked away in an alley on the 2nd floor. 2 Chome-25-5, 2F Dogenzaka, Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan

2. World Breakfast All Day – this place is so charming! Each day features 3 different breakfasts from around the world. 3-Chome-1-23 Jingumae, Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan

3. Pompompurin Cafe – so this cafe is mostly for kids or people who love cute adorable things. I am one of those people. 1-Chome-7-1-3, Jingumae, Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan

4. Funky Chicken Bar – Japanese soul food! 2-Chome-18-11 1F 105, Shibuya City, Dogenzaka, Tokyo, Japan

5. Israeli Cuisine Ta-im – for authentic Israeli food. 1-Chome-29-16, Ebisu, Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan

6. Kotori Cafe – if you’d like to enjoy your coffee while watching colorful birds interact with each other. A fair warning, some of the birds seemed a bit bored/unhappy which made me hesitate to include this place. The concept and merchandise was adorable but I’m not sure I’d go back. For that reason I’ve not included the address.

I’ll end this post with some pictures from my last trip to Tokyo. It’s a beautiful city and I’m really excited to go back!
