I mentioned how much I love Barcelona. During my most recent visit there, I happened across El Jardinet dels Gats.
El Jardinet essentially amounts to an inner-city cat sanctuary for homeless or abandoned cats. Their ultimate goal is to get the cats adopted or fostered.
It warmed my heart to see this place! El Jardinet was opened by a local who couldn’t stand to see all of the cats everywhere with no place to go. It posed a health hazard to the neighborhood and was also very sad.
Located in the Raval neighborhood, passers-by are treated to visions of a lounging colony of happy cats and the area is also much cleaner now.
